Email Marketing and Review Apps 15,463 Shopify Stores Use

A storefront scan of 15,463 Shopify stores shows which email marketing and review apps appeared most often, with methodology and limits.

Across 15,463 Shopify stores we scanned, Klaviyo appeared on 8,094 stores and Judge.me appeared on 5,441 stores. That makes Klaviyo the most visible email marketing app in this sample at 52.3%, and Judge.me the most visible review app at 35.2%.

The useful part is not that one app wins a directory page. It is that email and reviews show up as operational layers merchants actually expose on storefronts: email captures demand, and reviews reduce doubt when the shopper is close to buying.

What We Counted

We looked for visible email marketing apps and product review apps on Shopify storefronts. Shopify's App Store separates these categories, but many merchants think about both together because both sit close to conversion.

This scan counted scripts visible on the home page and product page. If an app did not expose a recognizable script in those places, we did not count it. If a store used no visible app in a category, it stayed inside the remaining share, not inside any vendor bucket.

How We Measured This

We scanned 15,463 Shopify stores from 2026-08-13 to 2026-09-12. An app was recognized by scripts on the home page and product page. Shares are calculated against all stores in the scan, not only stores where we found an app.

The sample is not random. It contains stores selected for our own campaigns: UK stores with subscriptions, Dutch stores, and stores with store locators. These shares describe those segments, not all Shopify stores.

There is also a visibility limit. Apps that load only after login, through server-side rendering, or without a public storefront script can be missed. Treat this as a storefront visibility scan, not an install census.

What This Means For A Merchant

  1. Separate market proof from fit. A common app is safer to research because more merchants have tested it, but Shopify still recommends choosing apps around the job your store needs, not the category leader.
  2. Check consent before email volume. Shopify says promotional email should go only to customers who agreed to receive marketing. Before comparing automation features, confirm that checkout opt-in, sign-up forms, and subscriber segments are clean.
  3. Review how proof appears on product pages. Shop product reviews can collect feedback after purchase, and supported partner app reviews can appear in Shop when they meet requirements. Your app choice should match where reviews need to show, not just how they are collected.
  4. Watch the unmeasured remainder. Because shares are counted against all scanned stores, the gap outside each named app matters. Some stores use another tool, some use no visible tool, and some hide the tool from this kind of scan.
  5. Do not copy the stack blindly. The data tells you what appeared in these segments. It does not tell you deliverability, review request quality, support quality, pricing fit, or migration cost. Measure those inside your own store before switching.

FAQ

Which email marketing app appeared most often?

Klaviyo appeared most often in this scan, with 8,094 visible installs across 15,463 stores. That is 52.3% of the full sample.

Which review app appeared most often?

Judge.me appeared most often among review apps, with 5,441 visible installs. That is 35.2% of the full sample.

Does this mean these are the best apps?

No. The scan measures visible usage in selected store segments. It does not measure support quality, deliverability, review conversion, app cost, or whether an app fits your catalog.

Why are percentages counted against all stores?

Counting against all scanned stores keeps the missing part visible. If no recognizable app script appeared on a store, that store still belongs in the denominator.

Can this scan miss installed apps?

Yes. It can miss apps that load after login, run server-side, or do not expose a recognizable script on the checked pages.
