Manage Your Shopify Subscriptions From Claude

Connect your store to the Subscriptions connector and manage Shopify subscriptions from a chat: pause, move a date, fix failed payments, build plans.

You can manage your Shopify subscriptions directly from a chat. Ask "which of my plans lost the most subscribers last month", "move Anna's next billing date to September 1", or "show me every subscription with a failed payment and send them a link to update their card", and it happens in your store.

That is what the Subscriptions connector for Claude does. You add it to Claude once, point it at your store, and then you can ask for things in plain language instead of clicking through an admin panel. It works together with the Subscriptions app and only touches the store you approve.

What an ordinary week looks like

Finding things

  • "Show me every active subscription for this customer's email."
  • "Who are my twenty highest-value subscribers?"
  • "When is Anna's next billing date?"
  • "What plans do I have, and what does each one include?"

Handling one subscriber

  • "Pause Anna's subscription."
  • "She's away in August, move her next billing date to September 1."
  • "Skip her next delivery."
  • "She wants two bags a month instead of one."

Fixing a failed payment

This is where a conversation beats a dashboard, because finding the list and acting on it is the same sentence.

  • "Which subscriptions have a failed payment right now?"
  • "Send them a link to update their payment method."
  • "Skip this cycle for the ones who still haven't paid."

Building plans

Setting up plans across many products is the task it shortens the most.

  • "Find my coffee products and put them on a monthly plan with a ten percent discount."
  • "Add a biweekly option with a fifteen percent discount."
  • "Give the first two deliveries a ten percent discount and twenty percent after that."
  • "Add free shipping to the annual option."

Reading the numbers

Because it is a conversation, the follow-up question is the valuable part: ask about churn, then ask which plans it came from, then ask to see those subscribers.

  • "What's my MRR, and how many active subscriptions do I have?"
  • "How many subscriptions were cancelled last month, and how many started?"
  • "Show me retention over the last ninety days."

This is your real store

Reading data is harmless. Pausing, cancelling, moving a billing date, or emailing a customer are real changes that reach real customers immediately.

Claude asks you to approve each one before it happens. Cancelling a subscription or deleting a plan cannot be undone.

The safe habit is to ask to see the list before asking for something to be done about it.

The connector reads and changes the same subscription contracts that Shopify defines for recurring purchases, and it makes that data available to Claude through Shopify's framework for connecting app data to AI agents.

How to set it up

  • Install the Subscriptions app on your store if it isn't there already. Every plan works, including the free one.
  • Open the connector in Claude's directory and connect it.
  • Choose your store, sign in to Shopify, and approve access.
  • Ask something harmless first, such as "what's my MRR", to confirm it is talking to the right store.
  • To disconnect, remove it in Claude and access is gone. More detail is on the connector page.

Is it worth it

With a handful of subscribers, probably not: the admin panel is fine. It earns its keep when the same small tasks keep coming back, when you want an answer that would otherwise mean exporting a report, or when you are setting up plans across a long list of products.

Add the connector in Claude, or start with Progus Subscriptions if you aren't selling subscriptions yet.
