We identified store locator apps on 15,218 Shopify stores, with Stockist appearing on 9,157 of them, or 60.2% of the detected app group. Across the wider scan of 104,153 Shopify stores, 67,526 had a working store locator page, or 64.8%.
This is not a market-share report for all Shopify. It is a scan of the store segments we researched, so the useful answer is narrower: which store locator apps showed up when a locator and app signal were visible.
What We Counted
We scanned 104,153 Shopify stores from 2026-08-13 to 2026-09-11. A store counted as having a locator when we found a working locator page, such as a Shopify page used for a store finder, or app scripts connected to a store locator.
The app shares below are calculated only among 15,218 stores where we could identify the store locator app. That matters because a locator page and a detected app are related, but not the same measurement.

The top pattern is concentration. Stockist and Storeify both position themselves around a locator page, search, filters, and map display. The difference in our scan is not the feature category. It is installed-base visibility inside this researched sample.
How We Measured This
The scan covered public Shopify storefronts from 2026-08-13 to 2026-09-11. We detected locator pages at paths such as /pages/store-locator and similar URLs, then matched visible app scripts where possible. Shopify app integrations can also use theme app extensions, which is why scripts and page evidence both matter.
The sample is not random. It includes stores selected for our campaigns: UK stores with subscription signals, stores in the Netherlands, and stores with locator signals.
The locator segment was intentionally selected toward stores that have a locator, so the 64.8% locator-page rate is likely higher than it would be across all Shopify stores. The shares between apps are more useful because they are calculated inside the 15,218 stores where an app was recognized.
We did not measure revenue lift, customer support reduction, review quality, churn, or merchant satisfaction in this dataset. Any article that claims those outcomes from app presence alone is guessing.
What This Means for Merchants
- Treat the locator as a conversion path, not a map widget. If shoppers need a nearby retailer, make search, filters, opening hours, directions, and mobile layout part of the test.
- Do not copy the most common app by default. A concentrated installed base shows what many merchants use, but it does not prove fit for your catalog, regions, dealer model, or data workflow.
- Check how store data gets maintained. In practice, the hard part is often not the page itself. It is keeping addresses, hours, tags, dealer lists, and product availability current.
